Hi, I’m Caroline
I’m an interdisciplinary design engineer interested in complex problems

As an integrative innovation designer, my work transcends conventional boundaries, forging unique and interdisciplinary paths to create extraordinary experiences. I believe in products and services that support the growth of knowledge about our lived experience and provide sustainable solutions. My approach involves active collaboration with experts from diverse fields, fostering versatile partnerships that fuel innovative designs for a sustainable future.

My journey spans both research and arts organizations. I have a rich background in textile development for renowned theaters such as the San Francisco Opera and the Sydney Opera House, where I seamlessly blended artistry with functionality on a global stage. I am a contemporary circus performer and coach, specializing in aerial rope, hoop, and fabric, creating breathtaking spectacles in both indoor and outdoor settings. Beyond the stage, I have partnered with research institutes like NASA JPL, where I contributed to the research and development of digital tools that support autonomous scientific exploration on other worlds. My engineering experience includes responsibly developing superhydrophobic surfaces using mechanical hierarchical nano-structures. With a keen eye for detail and a deep passion for innovation, I weave together my textile mastery and storytelling experience with engineering and my broader interdisciplinary skills, ensuring a holistic approach to every project I undertake.

My educational foundation includes a Master's in Design Engineering from Harvard University, where I was honored as an MDE Fellowship recipient, focusing on materials science, circular design, and human-computer interaction. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art & Anthropology from Wake Forest University. My work embodies a commitment to expanding horizons, fostering interdisciplinary partnerships, and crafting innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
